Tips on how to clean a microwave with lemon juice and water
Hey friends,
I have been neglecting my microwave for quite some time now. I don’t know why because it literally takes minutes to clean with little or no effort.
I love using lemon juice because it is high in citric acid, and the enzymes cut thru the grease. They smell good too.
All You need:
- 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
- 1 cup Water
- Coffee Mug
- Rag
Years ago, I heard about cleaning the microwave two different ways: Using lemon juice, and using vinegar. Both were similar (adding 1/4 of the liquid into a mug and microwaving it), and I tried both. They ended up giving me the same results, however, I didn’t like how the house smelled after microwaving vinegar. For that reason, I decided cleaning with lemon juice, was the winner, and have been using it ever since.
I combine 1/4 cup of lemon juice to 8 oz of water into a mug, and pop it in the microwave. I set the microwave for 10 minutes and walk away. When the microwave beeps, I let the mug sit in the microwave for only a minute, then take out the mug with a pot holder (be very careful, it’s HOT). I then take out the glass turntable and wipe it with a rag. Next, I wipe down the sides, top, bottom, and door of the microwave. That’s it. It literally takes a couple minutes. No scrubbing, and no harsh chemicals…it is really that easy.
I have added pictures of the before and after on my microwave. Yes, the before picture was pretty bad, but it is clean now, and I didn’t spend much time on it at all.
Until next time friends…
