Hey Friends…
I love going thru instagram, and seeing all the beautiful 3 tiered trays that have been posted over the past year and because of that, I have wanted to purchase one, however, they are quite spendy. So, I have decided to get thrifty and make my own.
My 3 Tier Tray cost me $5 + left over paint, polyurethane, & glue in my cupboard
SUPPLIES:
- 3 Pie Plates
- 2 Candle Sticks
- Craft Paint (Your favorite color)
- Satin Polyurethane (spray kind is best)
- 1 inch foam brush
- Gorilla Glue
I visited the local Thrift store and purchased 3 tin pie plates and 2 matching candle holders all for $1.00 each. Our local Thrift store has a 50% off sale on Thursdays, so be sure to take advantage of those special sales in your area, and by doing so, you may be able to get your supplies at a lower cost than I did. I didn’t think of that when I purchased my items for this project, although I am sure I could have made my 3 tier tray for less if I did.
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
If the items were purchased from a thrift store, be sure to clean them with soap and water.
-
Paint the 3 trays and candlestick holders with your favorite choice of paint. You will need to give it 2 coats and let your pieces dry in between each coat.
-
Spray with a polyurethane and be sure that you read the can for drying time.
-
Lay largest tray on bottom and glue the first candlestick holder to the center of tray.
-
Add glue to the top of the candlestick holder, and add the 2nd tray on top of it.
-
Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the next tray.
Love everything thx
Great idea! I’m going to try it.
What a post! That is so chock full of useful information I can not wait to dig
deep and start using the resources you have given me. Your exuberance is refreshing.
King regards,
